Since 2018

Pinoy roots, open court

We started in 2018 as a small group of Filipino international students who loved basketball. We wanted a place to play, connect and belong.

From GPHB to GFAB Inc. Today we are a community-led, not-for-profit club open to people of all backgrounds.

Players now drive in from Colac and Bendigo for our casual sessions, and some come down from Melbourne for the Monday night league.

The club started in the Filipino community and that’s still who we are. Our players come from plenty of other backgrounds now, and the court doesn’t care where you’re from.

International students & new arrivals

We started as international students ourselves. Students at Deakin, people who moved for work, families who arrived recently. A set time each week with the same faces is how friendships actually happen.
